Using a semiconductor-fiber ring laser, a novel method for the all optical wavelength conversion based on dual-pump four-wave mixing (FWM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is demonstrated. For the input signal with different wavelengths, only one external pump is needed. This scheme can simplify the dual-pump FWM in SOA and has nearly constant conversion efficiency and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) over 50nm range of wavelength shifts.
