夏司狗(Canis familiaris shiahsy hunter Zhuang ＆ Hui)分布于我国贵州省都匀、麻江等地。夏司狗体型较小,雌、雄的成年体重均在15公斤以下。夏司狗全身以粗长毛为主杂有少量细直的绒毛,毛白色而略带淡灰,口方型,鼻大呈红色,嗅觉灵敏,善于狩猎而耐粗。夏司狗除具有上述优良猎犬性能外,还是很有希望的实验用动物。据我国实验动物权威分析认为:夏司狗如加以选育将有可能代替世界有名的实验用比颌狗。随着我国医药事业的发展以及实验动物的标准化,夏司狗的选育将带来一定的社会效益与相当大的经济效益。
