由于采矿工业生产能力的不断增长,在新建和改建的选矿厂中继续大量采用生产效率低的浮选机是不合理的,需要制造生产效率高和有效容积大的浮选机.现在已经有了浮选槽容积为12.5米~3的浮选机;还研制出了浮选槽容积为25米~3的浮选机.这些浮选机的制造主要是扩大浮选槽的容积.1976年,全苏矿山有色金属工业科学研究院开始研究制造大容积浮选机,他们根据浮选生产的经验,趋向于将现有浮选机扩大和研制新结构的浮选机.
