年龄影响着药物的治疗。从婴儿到老年的过程中,人体在生物化学方面经历了无数难以察觉的变化,其中一些变化损害了身体对药物的吸收、分布、代谢和消除的能力。药物吸收取决于给药途径和药物的理化性质。在新生儿期,胃酸度较低,胃排空和通过肠的时间较任何其他年龄要慢得多,因此,对药物吸收较多或较完全。老年人因衰老过程组织结构改变,肠道、血流、吸收细胞的减少,可使药物的吸收延迟或减少,胃内的pH高,内服药物在肠道吸收减少,尤其对酸性药物吸收较慢。
