在日常生活中，暗语、手势等形成了一种蕴含一定信息的无声语言．它不仅弥补了有声语言的缺憾和不足，甚至在某些特殊的时对产生了有声语言难以企及的作用和效果．它主要诉诸人们的视觉，可分为三类：一、无声的态势语．二、无声的实物语（含三小类：1．标志语；2隐喻语；3道具语）．三、无声的物候语．无声语言虽然缺乏语音这一物质外壳，却同样具有丰富的语义．它是一种客观存在，是相对有声语言而言的，又有别于数码电波、文字符号而独具一定意义的信息载体．它突进了有声语言的功能禁区，因而呈现独特的魅力，在丰富多采的生活中显得含蓄灵动，幽婉别致．
