据国家统计局资料,我国60岁以上的人口有8,700万,至2000年预计将达1.3亿,其中60~70%将是妇女。美国1980年调查65岁以上人口占11%,达2,500万,而60%是妇女;预计至2000年将达3,100万,而70%将是老年妇女。其中65~84岁年龄组男女之比为100∶184;85岁以上年龄组为100∶224。因此有人称:“老年人的社会是妇女的社会”。绝经后妇女仍能再活20~30年,其一生的1/3时间要在绝经后渡过。此期由于逐渐衰老伴随着发生许多与老年有关的医学问题,是各种疾病(心血管、代谢性疾病、肿瘤等)发病和死亡的最高阶段。因此,老年妇女的初级卫生保健特别重要,已引起世界卫生组织(WHO)及各国政府的重视。本
