Introduction The bioengineering group of the B.C. Institute of Vancouver, Canada, began to study the cultivation of exotic edible fungi using cellulose residue from paper mill as the main substrate in 1982. At the suggestion of Dr. W. A. Hayes, Aston University, Birmingham, England, the team first studied a Pleurotus sajorcaju. The initial test results are very encouraging and have been reported (Mueller et al., 1983). Currently funnel-shaped ear cultivation has entered commercial production. Following the successful cultivation of funnel-shaped ears, we conducted a study on whether Coprinus comatus could be cultivated on cellulosic residues from paper mills in an attempt to provide mushroom growers with pulp waste as a substrate for cultivation to produce A commercial mushroom products. This paper uses a comparative test were summarized.
