Objective To study the correlation between skull and brain nucleus size in Tibetans and Han nationalities in the plateau, so as to provide an objective basis for the ideal surgical results. Methods Head CT was performed in the Tibetan Plateau to measure the nucleus structure of 1048 skulls and 527 brains and analyzed by SPSS10.0 statistical software. Results The relationship between the length of skull and the length of thalamus (r = 0.174, P <0.01), leptospiral length (r = 0.200, P <0.01) and caudate nucleus length (r = 0 .133, P <0. 01) showed a significant positive correlation. The width of the skull was significantly different from that of the thalamus (r = 0.15 1, P <0.01), lentiform nucleus (r = 0.27, P <0.01) and caudate nucleus width (r = 0 .10 1, P <0. 05) was significantly positive correlation. With the increase of the width and width of the skull, the width and width of the thalamus, putamen and caudate nucleus also increase. For each 10 mm increase in the major diameter of the skull, the heads of the thalamus, putamen, and caudate nucleus increased by 2.218 ± 0.170 mm, 2.222 ± 0.172 mm and 1.136 ± 0.111 m m, respectively For each 10 mm increase in width, the head width of the thalamus, putamen, and caudate nucleus increased by 1.2 2 ± 0.12 9 m m, 1.2 0 3 ± 0.171 m m, and 0 .6 94 ± 0. 1 12 mm, respectively. Conclusion Our comparative study of the size of the skull and the nucleus can provide beneficial help for the precise positioning of the preoperative target and achieve the more satisfactory operation
