Objective To investigate the changes of blood pressure and electrocardiogram in long-term high-concentration manganese exposure occupational population. Further understanding of the mechanism of injury to workers’ health caused by exposure to manganese provides a theoretical basis for protecting the health of workers exposed to manganese dust. Methods Sixty-six male welders at a bridge plant in a bureau were selected as the manganese contact group. Sixty-five administrative and logistic staff without exposure to manganese smoke and dust and other harmful substances were selected as the control group. Using questionnaire survey and environmental monitoring, measurement of blood pressure and electrocardiogram tracing method. Results Compared with the control group, heart rate, electrocardiogram and blood pressure were significantly increased in the two groups of workers, and the PR interval was significantly shortened and the QRS wave was significantly widened. The T waves in the 5 ~ 10 a and 10 - Group mean diastolic pressure decreased, compared with the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion Long-term higher concentrations of manganese exposure have a certain impact on male workers’ heart function.
