一、The main form and content of multimedia teaching
Firstly, learn and imitate from news reports and correct pronunciation and intonation. Compared to traditional teaching methods, multimedia teaching can provide students with news reports, music and film and television works and so on. This can to some extent attract students’ attention, thus, it can help students’ to improve their oral English skills.
For learning, there are four stages: (1) Understanding, it provides students learning oral English with the contents of expression. (2) Learning, it can help students to improve the organizational capacity of oral language. (3) Reciting, it can enable students’ flexible organizational capacity of the contents of news reports to be used in actual situation. Thirdly, learn English – speaking countries culture. On the one hand, we can send some professors to English – speaking countries for study and record photos and videos during that period, then, teach students culture practices, customs and so on. On the other hand, we can help students to master all kinds of oral expression orals forms in authentic language environment through learning the whole chapter of the film and television works.
二、Advantages of multimedia teaching in oral teaching
Firstly, intuition, the biggest advantages of multimedia teaching in oral teaching lies in its intuitive. The content taught by this method can be accepted easily by students, on the other hand, it can also make students be more impressive on the knowledge that taught by teachers.
Secondly, accuracy, the second advantage of multimedia teaching in oral teaching lies in its accuracy. Multimedia teaching is beyond textbook teaching on accuracy. This can to some extent help students correct their tone. At the same time, compared to textbook, multimedia teaching is closer to life on dialogue description, and it is closer to the process of actual English dialogue.
Thirdly, interactivity, in the design of multimedia teaching in oral teaching, I always pay attention to the interactivity. In the process of learning news report, I required students to imitate the tone of the news broadcast. In the process of learning film dialogue snippets, I asked students to act some film dialogue snippets. In the process of teaching students the English – speaking culture, I arranged students to take part in debating and discussing. By doing this, on the one hand, it can mobilize the enthusiasm of the students and make students be the master of classrooms. On the other hand, it can improve students’ English speaking skills.
Fourthly, interesting, the last main advantage of multimedia teaching in oral teaching lies in its intuitive. As we all know, interesting is very important to our daily work, similarly, it is also very important to our study. If we have no interest in studying, we can not success in study. For the traditional teaching methods, the process of teaching usually is boring. So students may dislike learning English, what is worse, student may give up learning English. On the contrary, for multimedia teaching, the process usually is interesting. Because multimedia teaching contains many interesting forms, such as interesting videos, interesting films and so on. Therefore, students may find it is interesting during the period of learning and they are willing to learn it. At last, their theoretical knowledge will be improved and their spoken English will be improved.
