侯学煜先生逝世即将十年了。他生前是中科院植物所的研究员,我跟他隔行如隔山,直到大兴安岭火灾之后我才知其名;我听说他事前曾就森林防火问题提出过预警性的意见和建议,可惜被当作了耳旁风。我又听说,侯学煜先生并不因自己的意见不受重视,便采取袖手旁观的态度。他在三峡工程重新论证工作中,仍然不随大流,未在论证报告上签字。我对那一论证中出现的各派意见,都没有深入了解,然而我对侯先生这种不肯苟同的学术风格,产生了很大的敬意。 Mr. Hou Xueyu is about to die ten years.
