话剧的发展渐次趋向两个方面:一个方面是在正规剧场演出的大剧目,内容复杂,变化多端,寓意力图深刻,涵盖面大。一个方面是演出场所不拘,形式短小,内容单纯,只求在某一点上直达观众的心灵。随着剧团体制改革的普遍展开,这一趋势会越来越明显。实际上近一、二年话剧领域中戏剧小品的异军突起,已很能说明这种形势。许多剧团在经费困难、演大戏门可罗雀的情况下转向戏剧小品,倒也招来了一批观众;一些综合性的晚会也掺进二三戏剧小品,活跃了气氛,为晚会增色不少;加之电视的推荐和传播,戏剧小品这种戏剧院校的教学手段,已突破学府的围墙走上社会,得到广大观众的承认和接受。
