目前,实验教学已经从过去的两种方式一维目标(即通过教师的演示实验与学生的分组实验教学,达到培养学生基础知识和基本技能的目标),发展到四种方式三维目标(即通过演示实验、分组实验、教师学生同时做的并进式实验以及课外小实验,达到培养学生知识与技能、过程与方法、情感态度与价值观的三维目标)。然而,由于受应试教育模式和管理模式以及社会经济发展水平诸方面的影响,部分中、小学实验教学工作一直没有受到应有的重视,
