The American scholar Harold J. Berman once pessimistically admitted in Law and Religion that the religious decline and the crisis of belief in the western world are a foregone conclusion. Now, this trend is growing. The author believes that the decline of religious beliefs is an inevitable result of historical evolution and a sign of civilization and progress.
