Urinary N-acetyl-β-glucosaminidase (NAG) activity in the early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy has some value, but still with age, hyperglycemia and other complications are closely related. Whether urinary NAG activity increased before urinary protein excretion suggests that nephropathy has occurred is unclear. The authors conducted a multivariate analysis of the influencing factors on urinary NAG activity in patients with diabetes mellitus. A total of 292 cases of diabetic patients, impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) in 39 cases and 10 normal subjects. Diabetic patients according to the initial diagnosis of urinary protein is divided into three groups: negative group of 203 cases; suspicious positive group of 36 cases; positive group of 52 cases. Clinical examination items include age, gender, course of disease, body
