南通师范第二附小是一所已有85年历史的学校。1984年,王秀芳来校任校长兼支部书记时,学校在省内外,以至在全国都已有一定影响。用王秀芳自己的话来说,“我来二附,接过的是鲜花和锦旗,同时也接过了时代的重托,那就是怎样在这个高的起点上,再把学校带上一个新台阶。”她认真学习历任校长治校的经验,一个设想逐步在她头脑里清晰起来,那就是,二附必须继承传统,开拓创新,在已取得的教改实验中大胆探索新路,创出二附特色! 1984年底,她正式提出教育改革目标:在该校特级教师李吉林语文单科教学改革的基础上,进行小学教育整体改革的实验。王秀芳和她同事们的汗水没有白流,中央教育科研所充分肯定了
