OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of total flavonoids (TF) from stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis on acute and chronic inflammation in mice using a variety of inflammatory models. METHODS: Conventional methods were used to prepare acute and chronic inflammation models such as mouse ear swelling, increased capillary permeability in mice’s abdominal cavity, and filter granuloma in mice. Observe TF by smear, oral and intraperitoneal injection routes. Effects on various types of inflammation mentioned above. RESULTS: TF could inhibit acute exudative inflammation caused by TPA, glacial acetic acid, and dimethylbenzene, and it also had a significant inhibitory effect on the inflammation of chronic granulation tissue hyperplasia. Conclusion: The total flavonoids from stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis have certain inhibitory effects on acute and chronic inflammation.
