《庄子》一书多次提及远古时代的“至德之世” ,并对当时人类无知无欲、无争无斗、生活富足、快乐自在的生存状况和智力水平作出了相当精细的描绘。进而主张用至德之世的道德境界来矫正后世的统治者在礼乐征伐的名义下所进行的杀人盈城、杀人盈野。本文在考古学、人类学、神话学、历史学的背景下讨论了至德之世的资料来源 ,认为老庄学派的“尚柔”、“不争”哲学 ,其源头远在原始时代“富裕的食物采集文化”之中。《庄子》中保存的有关至德之世的神话传说 ,是研究我国远古食物采集文化的珍贵文献 ,同时也是当今史学研究、民族学研究、伦理学研究应予利用的思想资源之一。
