如果要写晚清民国的中国商业历史或小说,有三个人绕不过去:一是盛宣怀,二是张謇,三是荣氏兄弟。从历史的脉络上看,盛宣怀的荣光建立在一个阶层和体制之上,张謇亲历了士绅作为一个阶层瓦解的全过程,荣氏兄弟赶上了士绅瓦解的尾巴。也因此,张謇受到社会转型影响的痕迹最大。
If you want to write the Chinese business history or novels of the Republic of China in the late Qing Dynasty, three people can not get around: one is Sheng Xuanhuai; the other is Zhang Huan; and the third is the Rong Brothers. From a historical point of view, Sheng Xuanhuai’s glory is based on a class and system. Zhang Jian witnessed the gentry as a whole process of class disintegration. The Rong Brothers caught up with the dissolution of the gentry. As a result, Zhang Jian is most affected by the social transformation.
