Human allograft keratoplasty can cause an immune response, corneal graft can be destroyed by this immune response. Among the stimuli of these immune responses, it is unclear exactly what the primary role of that antigen is. Nelken et al. Reported that the whole cornea contains A and B antigens, whereas Herold was found in 12 corpses and found that these antigens existed only in the epithelium. The question is whether trace amounts of antigens in the corneal endothelium can not be detected due to technical operation.
