红外搜索和跟踪(IRST)示范器计划目的是研制一种硬件,这种硬件能够在机载环境中对空中目标进行远距离探测和跟踪。本文介绍红外搜索和跟踪设备的每一个主要子系统,其中包括瞄准系统、热成象系统和信号处理系统。本文同时介绍各种操作方式,这些操作方式使得人们能够搜索、探测和跟踪多个目标,并且能够显示所选目标的图象以及提供被动测距信息。红外搜索和跟踪设备将被装在一架实验用的“旋风”飞机上飞行,本文对设备的安装以及所建议的试验也作了介绍。最后,本文对这种设备的未来性能作了概述,并且列出了若干条提高设备性能的途径
The purpose of the Infrared Search and Tracker (IRST) Demonstrator Program is to develop a hardware capable of remotely detecting and tracking aerial targets in an airborne environment. This article describes each of the major subsystems for infrared search and tracking equipment, including aiming systems, thermal imaging systems, and signal processing systems. This article also describes various modes of operation that allow people to search, detect, and track multiple targets, display images of selected targets, and provide passive ranging information. The infrared search and tracking equipment will fly on an experimental Tornado aircraft, as well as the installation of the equipment and the proposed tests. Finally, this article provides an overview of the future capabilities of such equipment and lists several ways to improve equipment performance
