岩石化学分析及岩石粒度分析数据的处理是岩石学和地质学(如矿产地质,工程与水文地质等)中一项最基本的工作,其特点是变量多,运算繁琐,岩石常规分析一般10~20个元素量,粒度分析一般500个测定值,运算步骤一般是数百乃至千步,而且判别、转移很多,人工计算(包括用电子计算器)耗时费力,占据大量重复性劳动,给生产、科学研究不能及时提供数据,致使大量原始资料积压乃至废弃。随着科学技术的发展,化学分析与粒度测量的时间已大大缩短,数据处理技术必须相应跟上,在这方面电子计算机这种现代化的计算手段给我们打开了快速数据处理的大门。
