广西烤乳猪起源于陆川县,后来逐渐传入玉林、梧州、南宁、桂林、柳州、钦州等地。上世纪50年代初期,烤乳猪已成为广西著名的传统佳肴。正宗的广西烤乳猪,必须选用体重不超过5千克的未断乳的陆川猪仔。陆川猪是我国九大良种猪之一,它以繁殖迅速、早熟易肥、皮薄内嫩、骨小内厚、味鲜香醇名闻退迩。其外形特点是矮短肥胖、头细耳小、腹部拖地,毛短稀疏,头、背、耳、尾呈黑色,胸、腹、肋、腿、颈为白色,黑白交界处有浅黑色的带痕。每年可产仔两窝,每窝约10~20头。饲养8~10个月体重即可达100千克左右,出肉率为78%,瘦肉率约为45%。
