如果从郭沫若写作于五四时期的历史剧算起,新编历史剧这一艺术品种在我国已有六十年的历史了。这一艺术新品种曾经在民主革命和社会主义时期,取得过令人瞩目的成就,它们的历史功绩是不容抹煞的。但是,由于主客观的多方面原因,历史剧创作中也确实存在着一种比附的倾向。一些创作于民主革命时期的历史剧,为了战斗的需要,常常是“以古讽今”,让历史的亡灵充当打击敌人的工具;有些写作于建国以后的历史剧,又常常是“以古颂今”、“以古喻今”,让历史的幽灵充当时代的号筒,为当时的政策服务。这一倾向,即使
