Since having access to video games, television, and movies, we now like to be entertained all the time. Little habits like talking on the phone and listening to music while walking on the street leak into the classroom. Students cannot sit still and listen because they get bored easily. Some students take these habits home and cannot help watching TV or listening to the radio while doing their homework.
In my high school, some students tapped their pencil on the desks. My friends passed notes. I used my cell phone. Students listened to their music during class. These habits sometimes go unpunished but they are disrespectful to our teachers and the learning environment. Even though I only checked my cell phone once, I realized when I got home that I didn't remember what was assigned for homework! I could only remember the conversations my classmate was having. I realized how these little classroom habits affect my education. I should have just asked my friends to stop talking. Even though we have a little fun, our behavior might have made it difficult for other students to learn. Therefore our education does not only depend on our teachers but on each other to keep the classroom a peaceful place to learn.
The next few days I left my music player at home and turned off my cell phone. When my friends passed me a note in class, I waited until after class to read it. I found that when I did not respond to distractions, I helped stop them. We started to enjoy the class when we understood what the teacher was saying. I also found that when I had free time to listen to my music player, I enjoy it much more!

  Link: Some other bad habits
① Addressing the teacher in a casual(随意的) manner.
"Hey man, what's up?" is okay for your friends, but not appropriate for your teacher. The teacher may be friendly, but is not your buddy.
② Habitually arriving to class late or leaving class early.
The teachers usually understand that accidents and emergencies(紧急事件) happen, but they still want students to be in class on time if they don't have a special excuse.
③ Interrupting(打断)the teacher with some points your want to make.
This type of student not only upsets the teacher, but also upsets the other students.
④ Eating and drinking in class.

Do you have any idea what you would like to be and do after graduation? A lot of people don't begin thinking about their careers(n.事业) until they reach junior or senior year, which, in my opinion, is too late.
When people are trying to decide what they want to do, it helps to know something they love. Ever since I was little, I've always been doing someone's hair or make-up, starting with Barbie dolls and progressing to humans. Over the years my family has really encouraged me to do this.
I have been thinking about what I would like to do for a career since middle school. I used Aveda's website to get information on the Aveda Institute and what type of credits(n. 贷款) I would need from high school to apply(v. I found their institute has three parts: theatrical knowledge, practical experience, and professional business- building skills. For the past few years, I have been studying the information on Aveda. And then I plan to choose the institute since it helps students become
"future industry leaders in hair care, skin care, makeup and body care." It is not so expensive and everyone there is friendly and understanding.
Having done the groundwork and thinking about what I'd like to do after high school, I know that I will follow my dream of becoming a cosmetologist(n.

After having a deep understanding of myself, I have also realized that I have many shortcomings(n. In order to go further, I have to overcome(v.
In college, I have learned a lot of things and my English has been greatly improved. On the other hand, I have to say that I still have a long way to go to achieve my goal. As I am learning language now, I know that language can only be used as a tool to communicate. I need to learn something more to be successful. Moreover, in three years of college study, I didn't go deep. Instead, I can speak or write in English in a very simple way. That is what I really need to improve in the future.
Besides what I have learned in the book, I did learn something that is helpful for my future. For example, college is a part of society. Good communication skill is the key to success. No one can live alone. As in a group, I should learn how to get on well with others. My communication skill will improve whenever I attend those school activities. But I am still lack of practice. I need to get myself more involved in society to get more experience.
Four years in college is an important part of my life.

Football is more than just a game to me. I have learned more good lessons from it than from school.
When I joined the team the first year, I didn't realize what I was getting into. Even though I had been playing since fourth grade and knew it was hard work. We worked all summer to get in physical and mental shape before the season.
See, football is more of a mental sport than anything else, so running on the track(n. 跑道) wasn't only about getting in shape. We would push our minds by running as hard as we could, even if we felt like we were going to pass out. At the beginning, I was only thought of myself, sometimes even giving up when I was tired or hurting. After the third game I had a season-ending hurt. Imagine working all summer and then only being able to play three games! I needed surgery(n. 外科手术) on my arm and at least five months to be fine again.
The next year, I decided that I would always do my best. Playing football has taught me so much more than just how to play. I have learned to think about others first and realized how important working hard is. Being with all my friends really made us bind(v. 捆绑) as a group of hard-working young men. I know we will succeed in life, too.
