Objective To investigate the role of Th1 / Th2 cytokines in the pathogenesis of recurrent genital herpes (RGH) and their relationship. Methods The percentage of 5 cytokines positive cells in peripheral blood CD3 + T cells of 20 patients with RGH were detected by dual-color fluorescent antibody staining. Results The percentages of CD3 + T cells in RGH patients were significantly lower than those in normal controls (P <0.05), while the percentages of IL-2 and IFN-γ positive cells were significantly decreased (P <0.02 and P <0.001, respectively) -12 positive cells were significantly increased (both P <0.01); TNF-α positive cells had no significant change (P> 0.05). Conclusions RGH patients have unbalanced cytokine production due to abnormal interaction between Th1 and Th2 cells, showing excessive production of Th2 cytokines (IL-10), while Th1 cytokines (IL-2, IFN -γ) production is too small, resulting in a series of cellular immune response inhibitory effect in the pathogenesis of RGH plays an important role.
