It is controversial to adopt “grid arch-type” initial support system in the construction of a diversion tunnel project. Mainly introduces the construction background and construction technology of the supporting method, analyzes its technical and economic negative effects through two construction examples, and then puts forward construction suggestions to change the construction situation and improve economic benefits
