Recent studies have shown that phytoestrogens (lignin and isoflavones) promote the synthesis and secretion of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) in human HepG 2 hepatoblastoma cells. In the past, experiments with individuals who took vegetables and beans as their main source of food did not reveal a clear correlation between the level of estrogen intake and the increase in SHBG levels. These studies may not examine the level of phytoestrogen in blood and consider Individual Differences.
