抗战时期,陕北延安有两所著名的“红色高等学校”——陕北公学和抗日军政大学。陕北公学简称陕公,是抗战时期中共创办的一所具有统一战线性质的干部学校(中国人民大学和西北政法大学等高等院校的前身)。1937年“七七”事变后,为造就大批革命干部,满足抗日民族解放战争的需要,中共中央直接领导创办了陕公。抗日军政大学的前身则是红军长征到达陕北后,原江西瑞金中国红军学校与陕北红军学校合并组成的“西北抗日红军大学”。1937年1月20日,为迎接即将到来的抗日战争,中共中央将其改称为“中国人民抗日军事政治大学”。

January 20, 1937, in order to meet the upcoming Anti-Japanese War, the CPC Central Committee renamed it the “Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese Military University.”
