厦门港成为特区外向型港口后,在以下五个方面发生了突变。 一、港口建设发展速度进一步加快,内外条件进一步优越 港口的货物吞吐量从1981年的187.15万吨增长到去年的1313万吨,其中外贸货物吞吐量从79万吨发展到718万吨,增长了近10倍;港口的集装箱运输从1983年开始迄今以年均40%以上的速度增长,去年全港集装箱吞吐量超过了30万标箱,居全国港口的第五位。目前厦门港无论是吞吐量,还是固定资产总值上都已跨入国家大型一类港口行列。港口以其北起宁波南至广州数千公里海岸线上唯一具有5万吨级深水泊位的优势,成为闽、粤、赣、浙等省出口物资的重要转运地。争取到2000年使港口吞吐能力达到3100万吨、集装箱通过能力超过100万标箱已成为五千厦门港人为之奋斗的新目标。 二、对外交流进一步扩大,口岸管理机构进一步完善
