血清杀弧菌抗体水平与霍乱防御作用最为相关.该抗体主要针对O1群霍乱弧菌的O抗原,并在补体存在时裂解霍乱弧菌.本文作者进行了两组研究,“初步研究”包括以往在北美志愿者中进行的对霍乱活菌苗CVD103-HgR的几项1和2期研究,“动力学研究”是在对初步研究结果分析的基础上进行的三项研究,于免疫5×10~3空斑形成单位(CFU)CVD103-HgR、5×10~8CFU CVD103HgR2或CVD110后不同时间采血,用微量滴定法检测杀弧菌抗体,以确定抗体应答的高峰时间.
