The initial test of the new AGM-88C HARM anti-radar missile for countering new frequency agility and wide spectrum threats is expected to begin in FY1989. Ford Space and Communications Inc. and Texas Instruments, the original manufacturer that will deliver the 5,000th HARM by September 1988, are competing to develop the guidance for the new AGM-88C. The Advanced Warhead, which is twice as big as the warhead now, is expected to introduce next year’s Navy / Air Force AGM-88B missiles. Texas Instruments and Ford will compete for the first production contract for a new generation of anti-radar missiles that are expected to begin in 1992. Based on the future requirements of the AGM-88C program, if both companies are designed to pass the operational test, the amount purchased in fiscal year 1992 could be shared by two companies or the winner of years of competition alone. Ford Motor Company worked hard to develop alternative low-cost seeker for HARM missiles. The seeker
