一九八九年十月一日,美国邮政总局在国家邮票收藏月中,特地发行了一套称为“恐龙”的邮票。这套龙票共四枚,每枚面值均为二十五美分,四方连总值为一美元(见图)。从图中可以看出,这套邮票设计别致,印刷精美,色泽鲜艳。“恐龙”栩栩如生地占据方寸的主要位置,背景则是中生代的大地自然景观,让人望而顿生神秘和壮观之感。你瞧,霸王龙虎视眈眈(图左上),翼龙展翅飞翔(图右上),剑龙威风凛凛(图左下),赝龙却温文而雅(图右下)。这套史前动物的邮票,由于构思新颖,形态逼真,所以受到美国各阶层人士的青睐,特别是青少年集邮爱好者,更是先藏为快。据报道,这套邮票共发行了五千万套,计两亿枚之巨,这在不到叁亿人口的美国,发行量是够大的了。
