There are four subclasses of human IgG. The expression of different IgG subclasses of B cells may reflect the different stages of B cell differentiation. Some antigens and fission can affect the distribution of IgC subclasses. Using monoclonal antibodies specific for various IgG subclasses, the authors performed immunofluorescent staining to examine the IgG subclasses expressed by human B cells and plasma cells. IgG subclasses expressed by plasma cells induced by the polyclonal B-cell activators lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and povalillamine (PWM) were also examined.
