The pigeons within the Christian culture are incarnations of the Holy Spirit, symbolizing the purity and freedom of the soul and its close relationship with human society. The pigeon in Jane Eyre is a symbol of simplicity full of Christ’s rational spirit and courageous pursuit of happy love. It reflects the harmony between man’s own reason and emotion, and the harmony between individual and human society, worldly society and godless world. The work emphasizes the subjective value that the hero dares to choose for himself and creates the image of a perfect woman.
