从美国华尔街引发的投资银行家们的诚信危机丑闻,到最近中国社会屡次出现的由于企业领导者诚信问题而引发的一系弊案(如苏丹红事件、三鹿奶粉三聚氰胺事件、黑心豆芽事件),使得整个社会更加关注领导者的诚信问题。虽然中国自古以来就有以德治天下的传统,但是三十多年的改革开放使得中国社会发生了较大的变化,很多传统的价值观念受到了猛烈的冲击,一部分企业领导者已不再以德严格要求自己。由于领导的一些不诚信行为使得员工对领导者缺乏信任,员工工作效率低下,流动频繁,进而导致企业管理成本居高不下。因此,在中国情境下研究如何保留传统文化中的德行要素并运用于领导理论和领导实践中以提高企业核心竞争力显得更具有时代意义。
