Objective To investigate the predictive value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and developmental scale on gross motor development in high-risk infants with cerebral palsy. Methods A total of 58 high risk infants with cerebral palsy who were admitted from February 2012 to February 2013 were enrolled in this study. The head MRI and Alberta Infantile Motor Scale (AIMS) were performed within 1 week. The levels of white matter abnormalities (WMA) AIMS score to calculate and analyze the sensitivity, specificity and relevance of WMA, AIMS scores and gross motor development. Results WMA and AIMS scores were significantly correlated with gross motor development. The combination of WMA and AIMS scores showed an increased correlation with gross motor development. The sensitivity and specificity of gross motor development showed the highest WMA predictive value. Conclusion The MRI and AIMS scores are of great value in the prediction of gross motor development in high-risk children with cerebral palsy.
