NEC has developed a claimed 1-megapixel 1-inch high-resolution CCD color TV camera prototype that is claimed to be the world’s first. The company plans to market in 1990 practical machine. The company reports that the three-panel color camera will be compatible with high-definition HDTV systems that can integrate 1920 × 1035 pixels on its charge-coupled device and have a high speed data read-out of 74.25 MHz. The camera has 1125 scan lines, 60 Hz field rate and 16: 9 aspect ratio. Image vertical and horizontal resolution of 1000 lines. The CCD camera with the current commercially available high-resolution video camera tube compared to the former prototype sensitivity is twice the latter. The new image sensor uses a vertical overflow dimple to suppress vertical white lines on the screen due to flowering. The camera size is 138 × 380 × 195 mm, excluding the lens weight 5.6 kg.
