在最近20年里超导技术获得了快速进展。磁成像和核磁共振是当今超导材料和装置的最大的商业市场。超过100K转变温度的高温超导材料的发现,重新激发了人们对超导在电力技术等很多方面应用的兴趣。在这些方面已采用低温超导进行过实验和研究,但尚未形成可商业购买的产品。由于世界上很多人正在开发超导原型发电机、电动机和输电电缆等,超导的工业应用在下一个世纪将大大增加。当然,这将取决于新的高温超导陶瓷材料克服某些技术和经济问题的程度。
Superconducting technology has made rapid progress in the last two decades. Magnetic imaging and nuclear magnetic resonance are the largest commercial markets for today's superconducting materials and devices. The discovery of high-temperature superconducting materials with transition temperatures in excess of 100K has rekindled interest in the application of superconductivity in many aspects of power technology and the like. Experiments and studies have been conducted using cryogenic superconducting in these aspects, but no commercially-available product has been formed yet. As many people in the world are developing superconducting prototype generators, motors and transmission cables, industrial applications of superconductors will increase dramatically in the next century. Of course, this will depend on the extent to which the new HTS ceramic material overcomes certain technical and economic issues.
