Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare are both great artists in the history of world drama. According to the Japanese researcher Aoki Masato in the “History of Modern Chinese Opera”: “The birth of the great ancestors came before Shakespeare in the United Kingdom for fourteen years, and Shakespeare died a year later. In the meantime, it is an odd thing. ”" We can see that the two writers lived in the same century. Presumably, the two writers would have many things in common. This article only focuses on the female images created by the two playwrights. To see how contemporary male and female writers in China and the West arranged the fate and life of their heroines, and then analyzed the similarities and differences between the two women’s viewpoints of women and thus the issue of the status of women in China and the West during this period.
