现在完成体本身只有一个时间意义(temporal meaning),传统认为的结果义、持续义、经历义等以及现时关联,都不是现在完成体的固有意义,这些都是现在完成体与不同的上下文相互作用的结果,都属于语用意义的范围。现在完成体本身仅表示所描述的情景在过去到现在的一个不定的时间段内发生或存在过。至于情景在整个时间段内是一直在持续,还是时断时续,还是只存在于某一些时刻,以及情景现在是否仍然存在这些问题,现在完成体本身不能做出任何说明。
