Can you image how nice it would be that there are always a circle of friends who play together with you from the first grade to the sixth grade in primary school and you grow up together from very young kids to early youth who will go to secondary school? Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the first humorous school diary from first to sixth grade in China, presents such a story. This serial book includes six parts: Trifles at First Grade; Interesting Things at Second Grade; Strange Things at Third Grade; Happy Things at Fourth Grade; Troubles at Fifth Grade; and Beautiful Things at Sixth Grade. This is the story about growth and also about stories happened every day. Whether you are adults or children, you must want to know what happened to Miduo and his little friends in second grade after reading the story of their first grade.
Miduo, the leading character, has cute parents—in order to prevent their son from being bullied, dad decides to have a game competition with the students in higher grades. And this “heroic undertaking” makes all classmates envy little Miduo; while mom who is lovely and considerate in ordinary days unexpectedly takes part in school parent-child sports meet with high-heeled shoes and red lips, and she still wins the champion even though her heel breaks. In order to help Liu Jianqiang who has no customer attracted to sell his lizards, Miduo suggests to have a competition in which participators compare the length of their tongue with lizards, with the attendance fee of 5 mao; at last, they get a “vast sum” of RMB 13 and then donate it to Liu Jianqiang. Sula, the deskmate who is larmoyant, Jingang, the classmate who always thinks about business, Wang Tiantian, the classmate who always inform secretly on classmates… They “help” each other to run for the manager of TV station, but finally make things go to the opposite way; they dress like little gentleman to participate in a wedding, but show “their true color” when scramble for cake; they drive the dentist crazy and make English teacher heartbroken… If the little readers have similar things in their schools and accidently read this book, they might like their school more, and become more willing to help their classmates and have better understanding of their parents. Helping the children grow up and fall in love with reading is the purpose that Huang Yu writes this book.
