波兰戏剧有悠久的历史。1945年7月22日波兰人民共和国成立后,波兰人民在波兰工人党的領导下掌握了政权。从这时起,波兰戏剧事业就有了很大的發展。第二次世界大战以前,在資产阶級統治下,波兰的戏剧是为資本家和戏剧老闆們服务的,戏剧的發展不稳定,更談不上对人民有什么教育意义。当时波兰工人阶级曾竭力設法創建有政治性和进步性的剧院,但都遭到資产阶級統治者的鎮压和反对。剧院里演出的全是能給老闆們带来巨大利潤的剧目,因而减低了戏剧的艺术价值。他們拒絕上演在文化上有全民意义
Polish theater has a long history. After the establishment of the People’s Republic of Poland on July 22, 1945, the Polish people took power under the leadership of the Polish Workers’ Party. From this moment on, there has been a great development in Polish theater. Before the Second World War, under the bourgeoisie rule, Polish drama served capitalists and drama masters, the development of drama was unstable, let alone the educational significance of the people. At that time, the Polish working class tried its best to find a political and progressive theater, but both were suppressed and opposed by bourgeois rulers. The theater is full of repertoire that can bring huge profits to the boss, thus reducing the artistic value of drama. They refuse to staged culturally universal significance
