北京钟表机床厂主要产品工艺要求比较复杂,精密度高,因此,对工人的技术要求也较高。一九八一年底,该厂从社会上招收五十名徒工(大部分是顶替接班的),这些人文化程度参差不齐。为了使他们尽快掌握专业技术,厂里一改过去师傅带徒弟的传统办法,下决心抽这批徒工到厂职工学校脱产培训。经过一年的学习(实际上课十个半月,968课时),使46名学员毕业时达到了机加工三级工的技术理论水平。他们的具体作法是这样的:

At the end of 1981, the factory recruited 50 apprentices from the community, most of them replacing their successors, who were all of a different educational level. In order to make them master the professional technology as soon as possible, the factory changed the traditional way of using the apprentice with the master in the factory, and determined to take these batch of apprentices to the factories and staffs’ schools for off-campus training. After a year of study (in fact, ten and a half months, 968 hours), 46 students graduated to reach the level of technical theory of machining three workers. Their concrete approach is this:
