This article takes Wordsworth’s long poem Far Visit as the starting point and discusses the intervention and influence of the poet on British national education in the 19th century from two perspectives. Firstly, Wordsworth’s influence on national education before and after the creation of “Far Visit” The problem is reflected in his call for rovers in the ninth volume of “Far-reaching Travel” to call for the government to establish a national education system. Second, Wordsworth’s poetry position in the national English education in Victorian times is highlighted in “ Far ”Volume I was selected for the English reading, for the government funded teacher learning to use. The creation and use of “far travel” embodies the twists and turns of British national education on the one hand and the tension between the educational ideal of poets and the practice of British education on the other hand.
