In order to clarify the role of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in the process of fracture healing, an experimental model of jaw fracture in rabbits was established. Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the effect of TGF-β3 on fracture healing Different stages of the expression and distribution. The results showed that there was no positive signal of TGF-β3 in the inflammatory cells and mesenchymal cells near the fracture site on the 3rd and 5th day after fracture. On the 7th, 11th and 14th day after the fracture, And the surrounding osteoblasts and cartilage cells were positive TGF-β3; the first 21 days after fracture, TGF-β3 positive signal decreased. The results suggest that: osteoblasts and osteocytes, chondrocytes and TGF-β synthesis and secretion related. TGF-beta regulates and stimulates callus development at different stages of fracture healing.
