珀西瓦尔·埃弗雷特是美国南加州大学杰出教授、作家,创新意识明显,已出版长篇小说、短篇小说、诗歌等作品30部,重要作品有《上帝的国度》(1994)、《图玛》(1999)、《抹除》(2001)、《我不是波迪尔》(2009)、《假设》(2011)和《罗素创作的埃弗雷特》(2013)等。2016年10月1日,王玉括在中国深圳采访了埃弗雷特教授。在此访谈中,珀西瓦尔教授对美国社会的文学再现、美国非裔作家的代表性、不同文本的互文性、作家个体与文学传统之间的关系等问题发表了自己的见解。他质疑广为人们接受的经典性概念以及与种族相关的诸多主题,表现了美国非裔文学的新发展。
Percival Everett is an outstanding professor and writer of the University of Southern California, a writer with a clear sense of innovation. He has published 30 works in novels, short stories and poems. His major works are “The Kingdom of God” (1994) (1999), Erasure (2001), I’m not Bordell (2009), Hypotheses (2011), and Everett by Russell (2013). On October 1, 2016, Wang Yuguang interviewed Professor Everett in Shenzhen, China. In this interview, Professor Percival made his own opinions about the reproduction of literature in American society, the representation of American Afro-American writers, the intertextuality of different texts, the relationship between individual writers and literary traditions. He questioned the widely accepted classical notion and many racially related topics that represented new developments in African American literature.
