On June 18, 2013, Maersk Line, MSC, and France’s CMA CGM reached an agreement on establishing a long-term operations alliance (CMA CGM) on the east-west route called the P3 network. P3 is ready to operate between Asia and Europe, across the Pacific and across the Atlantic with a total capacity of 2.6 million TEUs. As the P3 Alliance’s Asia-Europe and Trans-Pacific routes all cover China’s major ports, it may ruin and restrict the market competition in China.
