Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma endothelin (ET) and serum nitric oxide (NO) and blood pressure rhythm in hypertensive patients. Methods Fifty hypertensive patients and 25 normotensive subjects were enrolled in the study. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and ET, NO determination were performed. Results ET increased in hypertension group, NO decreased. According to the results of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, 50 patients with hypertension were divided into two groups according to the results of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring: ET and ET were significantly higher in non-spoon type group (54.2 ± 18.9 vs 37.7 ± 10.1) ng / L, NO decreased significantly (32.9 ± 12.8 vs VS 48.7 ± 11.2 mg / L; nocturnal decline in blood pressure was negatively correlated with ET (r = 0.51, P 0.05) NO was positively correlated (r = 0.53, P <0.05). Conclusion The levels of endothelin and nitric oxide in hypertensive patients may be involved in the regulation of circadian rhythm
