FIAR, Italy, is currently developing two major new airborne radars. These two radar accounts for most of FIAR’s work. In 1984, the company invested R14.5 billion in research and development, accounting for about 18% of annual net sales. The Altair radar was developed jointly with Westinghouse. Among them, FIAR company responsible for receiver and radar digital components work. The other is the Grifo radar. It is a pulsed Doppler radar with a fully coherent TWT transmitter and uses a programmable signal processor. The Grifo radar is designed as a small and relatively inexpensive multimode radar that is both adapted to the needs of the aircraft conversion market and suitable for AMX, Alpha Jet and Falcon-200
